Wedding Policies

The Church views your wedding as a sacred union, performed within the Church, between a man and a woman and blessed of God. Therefore, the wedding service is an act of worship and should be approached as such. Music, the ceremony, and all other aspects should fit into this honorable concept of marriage. Please, no flash cameras during the ceremony.

We will open the Chapel for you one hour before the wedding and close it one hour after the time of the ceremony. Rehearsal time is scheduled for 45 minutes. Insistence on these time frames assures everyone that the time of their reservation will be honored.

  • Rose petals, rice or confetti should not be thrown in the building or on the walks. It causes unsafe walking conditions on floors and sidewalks. Birdseed is a popular alternative and can be substituted since it both feeds the birds and does not constitute a safety hazard. Birdseed should be used only outside the Chapel.
  • We ask that no member of the wedding party or guests park on the grass. There is additional parking across the street at the tennis and swim area.
  • Please remove all directional signs immediately after the wedding.
  • A reminder: Simpsonwood is an alcohol and smoke free facility.
  • Smoking is permitted in designated areas only. The most appropriate church decorations will always be the simplest.
  • The furniture in the Chancel area will be set up for your wedding. IT CAN NOT BE MOVED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!!!
  • Pew holders or ribbons may be used. We request that you not use tape of any kind on the pews.
  • Dripless candles ONLY should be used.
  • The hymnals and Bibles located on the back of the pews should remain there.
